Terms of Reference

Purpose: The Haemovigilance Association of Ireland will support and promote the professional development of its members.

Membership

Any person working in haemovigilance or a related area.

Remit

The remit of the Haemovigilance Association of Ireland is as follows:

• Promote safe and effective transfusion practice for those receiving blood components/products.
• Promote the role of the haemovigilance officer through local working groups and on a national basis.
• Promote mutual professional development.
• Provide an educational programme for members.
• Participate in and develop audit and research initiatives as appropriate.
• Develop and maintain effective channels of communication.
• Reduce professional isolation by encouraging networking, support and cross clinical group working.
• Contribute to the shaping of policy relating to transfusion of blood components by responding to local and national developments. · Develop affiliation and links with relevant organisations
